Welcome to Daisy 880 .Net

www.daisy880.net Daisy 880 Collection

Growing up my first rifle was a Daisy Powerline 880. I put more rounds through that 880 than all other guns I have owned combined. It is a lot more affordable considering that even today you can get 5 BB’s for a cent.

Before purchasing my first 880 in the early 90’s I did my research. I wanted the most power for the least dollars. That is where the 880 shines, at that time it was a lot more powerful than any rifle under $120. I didn’t have $120, so those rifles didn’t matter. The first 880 I purchased cost about $40. The price has remained unchanged and today you can buy them at my local Walmart for $40. Sadly the new guns are made in China, but they are still worth purchasing.

I think the 880 is the perfect training gun. You can send thousands of BB’s down range for a few dollars. The 880 is accurate and the power is variable by how many times you pump it. From a measly one pump leaving a dent to a ten pumper that goes completely through a tin can.

When the 880 was introduced in 1972 it had a metal receiver and a metal pump arm. There have been several changes to the outside and internal workings of the 880 through the years. To ID the age and internal style of your gun you may want to visit the ID page. I carry the most complete collection of parts for the Daisy 880 on the net, if you need parts checkout the parts page. Need a part but don’t know what they call it, checkout the parts ID Page.

If you have a question or want to share a story about a Daisy 880 visit the forum. The design of the 880 was well done, and Daisy used it on many other models. To see variants of the 880 checkout the 880 variant page.

  1. I received my parts today, they are great parts. I also rebuilt myModel 880 today, I knew I had an air leak, I suspected the trigger exhaust valve, anyhow I replaced the piston seals and exhaust valve and the rifle works great. My only frustration is that I can’t figure out what was really wrong, even the old parts looked like new. Thanks for the quick shipping too.

    1. If you were working on an Old Style Daisy 880 I have also noticed that the chamber seal can look fine but fail to function. I have also had it where a gun would just need a good cleaning. Glad you got your gun working

      1. I have an old style 880 and am looking for a barrel gasket (#58). I may have to make one. Do you know what it was made of?

  2. Looking for repair info. Have almost new 880, only used twice. air is not holding. i can hear it escape the barrel when you pump.

    1. When air is leaking through the barrel the most likely culprit is the exhaust valve. You might want to watch my disassembly video to give you an idea of how to get to the valve, once there you may be able to just clean the exhaust valve, https://youtu.be/r8N-gDrZATM

  3. I am trying to rebuild an old style 880, one that was built in the USA and trying to figure out what I need. I have replaced a couple of the o-rings but not exactly sure of what else I need to order. I also have a couple of questions on their placement on the pump head assembly. I couldn’t figure out how to get a photo to you showing my question.

    1. I offer a rebuild kit for the old style Daisy 880s, it includes most of the seals and a new oil wiper. Of course you can always need additional parts or not need everything that is offered in the kit. You may want to watch some of my videos on youtube, I tear down both styles of the 880 and show the pump head being assembled from bare parts. Thanks

      1. Where is your video named to repair an old style (made in Arkansas) compression parts? A tad different, yet direction is needed.

        1. I have two videos on youtube about the old style 880. One on disassembly and one on reassembly. You should be able to find them by just searching old style daisy 880 on youtube.

  4. i have a 822.daisy 22 sg..the parts look the same..will they work?the problem is it will take about 2 pumps then it want take any more air.what is your best guess ? great web sit!! i will be happy to order parts….

    1. Most of the parts are interchangeable, some are specific to the gun like the bolt. My guess is the chamber seal, it will be cause the problem you describe. The 822 takes the same chamber seal as the Old Style Daisy 880. You might try taking out the seal and heating it up to stretch it back out.

        1. They are no longer made, your best bet is finding a used one. I occasionally have used ones that I list on Ebay but don’t have any at this time. You can use the new style stock but you will have to switch side covers to the new style as well.

      1. I am looking for a Old Style bolt for my 880 (Lot# 1H02066, Quail Unlimited 10th Limited Edition). Have any idea where I might purchase a replacement?

        1. They are no longer available new, however the new style bolt can be modified to fit the old style rifles by removing the extra casting material.

  5. I just found my old 880 that I bought new back in the early to mid 1980’s. It has metal side plates, multipiece diamond in the forearm, metal pump arm and a single screw holding the stock. It definitely needs new seals. I remember it being very accurate.

    1. I had a late 70’s early 80’s 880. I had it for over 15 years. One day, it just wouldn’t hold air, so I threw it away, thinking it was a disposable BB gun. All these years later, I wish I had known then what I know now that they can be repaired and enjoyed. I wish I had that gun back again. Such fun memories shooting it as a young teen and young adult.

      1. This is why I started carrying the parts for the 880, I had one as a kid and wanted to restore it but had a hard time getting parts.

        1. I have an old style 880 (metal receiver, brass tube) and it will not build pressure. The gun sat unused for over 30 years. I do not want to fix it. Anyone out there want it? I live in the Chicago, IL area.

  6. Do you offer repair services? I have an old style with metal pump. I ordered the reseal kit, took it all apart, but could not get it repaired.

    1. I use to but no longer have time to. You might check out the old style reassembly video I posted on youtube as it may help.

  7. I installed a new bolt received from you two weeks ago and put the Powerline 880 back
together per helpfull youtube videos and when all put back together the trigger will not
pull back and release the “hammer”. When the safety is off the trigger just comes back
about 1/4″ and cannot be pulled back any further. How can I fix it?
hopefully I will receive a reply to my eamil below. Thanks so much for your help.

    1. Sounds like there is a bind, make sure you didn’t install a new style bolt in an old style 880 without modifying it. Could also be a bind in the trigger mechanism, without looking at the gun it is hard to know.

  8. PURCHASED THE 822 880S 917 922 Pump Piston Assembly. Once installed, it worked perfectly for one shot. Now air is escaping. Any ideas what on what I need to do to fix?

    1. I would need more info, if it is an old style my first place to look is the chamber seal. It is the most common problem on the old style. If the oring is good on the pump piston, and the pump tube is in good shape you are usually looking at a leak from the pressure chamber.

  9. I have a Daisy Powerline Model 822, Rogers, AR single shot. I purchased it new at a local hardware store in the summer of 1977. You know the model; metal pump handle and side plates with three screws, wood grain etched plastic stock and fore end with inlaid black diamond with white outline, and brass pump tube I can just see through the small slit under the pump handle. It is in almost perfect condition. I shoot it regularly and have only put an occasional drop or two of oil under the pump handle where it says “OIL HERE” and always keep the external parts wiped clean. It is stored in a gun case.
This week it quit working. I pump it up four or five times and I can see the pellet leave the barrel through the scope and it goes about 10 feet. I need one of your reseal kits! I’ve never even taken a screw out of this gun. Have not needed to! Need help ordering parts. I do not usually shop online and would rather use the phone. I watched your assembly and disassembly videos and I can do the install with no problem.
Great idea on putting this info all together like this. Thanks a lot! Glen

    1. My guess is the chamber seal is failing to hold pressure. You can try removing it and slightly heating it and stretching it back out. You might be able to get it to hold a seal. If everything else is good I do sell the chamber seals individually as well as in a kit with the O-rings and wiper.

  10. Received Seal Kit Today. Just what I Needed. Video was a godsend for assembly and disassembly.
    Gum works like new. Thanks!!!!

  11. I have just seen your wonderful videos, both the dismantle and re assembly posts. I have examined your current website (this one) and have discovered that my model 881 Powerline (purchased new, circa 1974 in Houston TX.) is a mixture of 880 models.
Mine is ALL Metal parts, receiver, cocking lever, etc. It also has the Insert Diamonds in the plastic forearms.
covers. This thing shot great for 20 years, then the big rubber O-ring got stuck (disintegrated) in the pressure tube. I’m sure all other rubber parts are gone as well.
I have some other Much More expensive German air rifles, But this Daisy 881 was/is my first love.
I would love to buy any parts needed from you and can post a picture of it for your site. I does look a bit different from your pics.
    doug,P.

    1. Oil degrades the buffer, which sounds like the part you describe. The buffer can be purchased individually or you can buy the entire pump piston assembly. The buffer is tricky to install and you will need a vise or press to compress it. I have most parts available for the old style 880 and 881.

  12. I have an older style 880. It seems to pump air ok, but will not fire the pellet. I get a healthy blast of air from the muzzle, but the pellet stays in the chamber. Do you know what I need to fix it?
    Dan

    1. My guess is either air is leaking around your bolt or on some early models the barrel is screwed to the body and can come loose allowing air to leak there. Usually they will fire but loose power.

  13. i am looking for a repair kit for my daisy model 880 im in south africa what will the cost be my name is jan my email adres is janbxxxxx .com hope to hear from you soon thank you very much jan

    1. Sure, currently shipping for most parts is $14.50 overseas. Just contact me on Ebay with the items you are wanting.

  14. I have a vintage 880 with smooth bore, brass pump tube, metal pump arm and side plates. The trigger assembly does not look like either that you show in your new and older model videos. It has a cast part that supports the end of the barrel. This cast part is attached to the trigger housing with a screw. I need to rebuild the pump and could use some suggestions. The gun is in very nice shape

    1. Yours is a very early 880, if you only need the seals it should take the old style seals. The pump piston assembly is the same size in all years of the 880, so the o-rings and wipers for the pump assembly work on all years.

      1. I have a ted williams eldorado 880 the chamber seal looks different than all i have researched it has a rubber tip in center can you supply this ? Thx

        1. Unfortunately I cannot. This is a rare seal I cannot find. You can convert over to the old style 880 internal workings. I wish someone would make this style of seal, but it isn’t common and I just think there isn’t enough demand for them.

          1. I have a Ted Williams model 799-190720 from 1973/1974. I also need to replace the odd style chamber seal (different from what I see in the old style Daisy model 880 diagram) that came on this gun. Do you sell the old style Daisy 880 chamber value seal and pump abutment? Will I also need to switch over other parts to the old style 880 assembly?

          2. There is an off style seal on a very few guns, it is unavailable. You can switch to the old style seal, Since my information is only second hand as I have not handled a model with this style a seal I cannot say for sure what parts must be changed, but have talked with a couple people who switched it to the old style seal.

  15. I have both the 880 and Powerline 880. Not made in China. Left and Right covers are metal. I need the left cover for the Powerline880. It takes two screws. Can you help? I purchased one that is plastic and it takes six screws to put in place. four in the back and two in the front

    1. Unfortunately they are no longer made, you will have to find a used one. I do occasionally have used ones and list them on Ebay when available. I don’t have any at this time.

  16. Good morning! I purchased a rebuild kit, and repaired my dad’s old style 880 – Thank you. During reassembly I broke the plastic ‘retainer clip’ that holds the pump arm in the closed position. I can’t seem to locate that replacement part. Can you lead me in the right direction, please?

  17. Do you have contact info, I had tried sending a question through eBay for purchasing a part, but didn’t get a response (maybe my email was temporarily suspended, computer was left logged in and may have a virus, but it works now). I wanted to buy some parts and send payment by mail. Paypal is a non-starter for me since they tend to rip people off I’ve had to cut ties with them, so can mail cash or money order.

    1. I do accept check and money orders through the mail on Ebay. I would try emailing me there with what parts you are interested in.

  18. I pumped up my 880 on the 10th pump it sounded like I had shot all the pressure was gone and will not pump up. Will a reseal kit likely fix the problem?
    George

    1. I cannot say, but it sounds like it blew a seal. It is likely the o-ring or chamber seal for the pressure chamber. The rebuild kits do include these parts but I would check for damage first as you might need more parts.

  19. i am trying to repair my old style Daisy 880. i have a few questions. firstly i have a broken style bolt, so will a new style bolt replace the old one. secondly, i am using my daisy after 15 years or so, the piston pumps seems to be losing the pressure. what would u suggest the parts i should order to get it working. will appreciate ur guidance. i am from india and i am willing to bear the cost of shipping.

    1. The new style bolt will work but needs to be modified. There are added castings on the new style bolt that were not on the old style bolt and they need to be removed. I use a dremel. I have a picture comparing the bolts in the listing so you can see what I am referring to.

On the old style 880 the most common problem is the chamber seal. Since it is a pricey part I always try to get the old seal to hold pressure if it is in good shape. They often look fine, but need to be stretched out so that they touch the side of the pump tube to hold a seal. I slightly heat the seal and stretch it back out. There is a chance you can get the old seal to work.

I do ship to India, currently it runs $14.50 for up to 6 ounces.

  20. I need some help with my old Daisy 880…
    It will not pump up.
I have replaced the plunger (cocking mechanism)… I can’t figure out why it will not pump up.

  21. just rec’d front sight for my 880. thanks for quick ship…..coincidentally, I moved from Macon 38 years ago!
graduated from Macon high, class of “59”. went to school with a Robert “Bobby Lewis”, who later married
one of the Broadus girls…..any relation? Bobby was one of Macon’s star football players. I just thought it coincidental to buy from internet and be re-connected with my old home town!

    1. No relation, my family moved here relatively recently. There are several other families here with the same last name but the only ones I am related to are my immediate family.

  22. Thank you so much for all the help. My dad’s daisy powerline 922 is functioning perfectly. Is that paint used on the outer barrel? Mine is peeling.

  23. Thanks for great You Tube videos. Had old 22x sitting in closet that broke right away back in the 1990s. I had to pump 9 times to even get a pellet cruising. Have 1998 880 still getting the job done. Learned from Pyramyd Air pro Tom to lube with Pellgun oil or 30W. Works great. But after watching your Tube video, I decided to risk transplanting metal reliever to the 880 (single screw). Better now than ever with Spike pellets! Also discovered that plastic receiver was broken where main screw attached! Must of hurt accuracy.

On to biz here, would you consider making custom parts like pistol grip stocks or Dragunov style stocks? And metal recievers for new 880? Also custom forearms? I would buy!!

    1. I would like to bring a wood stock to market, but I do not have the tooling or time to do so and have not found someone else yet. I still have parts I am trying to chase down for the old style 880 so we will have to see.

  24. JL, looking to make sure I order right kit for old 880, keep it going, great trigger pull. Does 1998 qualify for old kit? Dismantled broken 22x. Seals look like new 880. Still need separate kit?

    1. The old style 880 has a brass pump tube, the new style has an aluminum pump tube. This is the easiest way I have found to tell someone how to distinguish which style. The o-rings and wiper are the same, the old style has a screw in exhaust and a different style of chamber seal.

  25. JL, also, looking hard at new bolt assembly. The old one just had plastic with dIvet to lock breach. The new one (like on my 77xs) has the rubber seal. Will new bolt work in old 880 breach?

    1. It will but needs to be modified. The new bolt has casting added the old style didn’t have and you have to remove them to get it to work. I have pictures on the bolt listing where you can see what I am referring to.

  26. I have ordered your 880 oldstyle repair kit. However, I have noticed that the piston head has what I think is a rubber piece between two washers right behind the oil foam (moving from left to right). This has mostly disintegrated. Two questions: Do you sell that piece? If not, is the piston assembly you sell compatible with an 880 circa 1978? Thanks!

    1. That part is the buffer, and it is a common problem with the old style 880 as oil breaks it down. It is sold individually, or you can use the complete assembly I have for sale in the old style rifles ans they work in all years of the 880.

  27. Hello, i have an old 880,believe purchased in 1975,fairly good condition. Has lost pretty much all compression, gun was knocked over at one time which snapped off most of outside of bolt thumb handle. Still works but jagged edge is hard on fingers,it is cast metal. I see your old 880 overhaul kits, replacement bolt thumb handle lever on your site for sale, would these parts work on my older rifle? Any benefit to upgrading to rifled barrel for better performance? Have watched your disassembly/assembly videos & asked basically the same questions on your ebay site, thought possibly would be seen/replied to here sooner. Thanks, would be happy to order parts you suggest from you.

    1. The bolt handle should work on the old style bolts, the bolts themselves are different but the new style bolt can also be used with modification. If you shoot pellets the rifles barrel will help, with BB’s it isn’t much of a help.

  28. I have a last made in the US version of the 880. Problem is that I cannot pump it. It will move but when I extend the pump handle suction just pulls it back in. Its like I can’t air into the cylinder to pump it up. Sound like just a good cleaning needed. Not that many shots fired through this one.

  29. I have found an 880 that is disassembled and missing several small parts. Would it be possible to mail it to you and have you replace the missing parts and assemble the rifle? It looks to be in excellent shape. Apparently someone tried to work on it and perhaps lost the safety button, spring and ball bearing . Could you give me an estimate as to the cost to replace missing parts and reassemble the rifle?
Thank you in advance for your help.

    1. Sorry I no longer have time to work on rifles. I likely have the parts you would need, and you might check my reassembly video on youtube to get an idea of what is involved.

  30. I have a new style 880. Only used a couple times. Absolutely 0 pressure when pumping. Actually has more resistance opening the pump then pushing it back closed. What is the problem?

  31. (I posted this on your you tube video, but not sure if you can see it. So here it is again)

Thanks for the info. I bought O-rings, oil wiper, and a buffer on eBay from you.I have an old style 880 and I used your video to tear it down, (not completely like you did), but when I went to put it back together, your reassembly video is for a new style 880. The pump assembly is way different. When I took it apart, I didn’t find a plastic washer, only 2 metal washers, an o-ring, a buffer, and an oil wiper.(They were really torn up and gooey so it might have had a plastic washer). Do I need a plastic washer back in there when I put it back together? Also I am having trouble putting the barrel back in the barrel cover. It is extremely tight, but it came out – it’s gotta go back in…right?Any help you could give me would be much appreciated. Thanks, John

    1. I now have a video posted on youtube for reassembly on the old style 880. I think what you are referring to with the metal washers is the pump piston assembly. Several years back Daisy added the white plastic washer to support the wiper on the pump piston assembly. Older models did not have this and it isn’t needed although I like it as it helps to keep the wiper in position and keep it from getting torn up.

I have not had a problem with a tight barrel cover, if it is an old style you might make sure the barrel is secured as the are screwed down to the body and can move if loose.

  32. Need to get a owner manual and a repair manual for my powerline 880 BB gun , Can you send information on how download those two manual free pdf file if possible or any information that well help me.

  33. I have a 880. Metal receivers, raised diamond, single butt stock screw. new type aluminum pump tube. I ordered the new type kit & it works. ordered new style bolt assembly it does not work. Also needs exhaust valve . Do you sell old style bolt? Please pm me & I will place an order by email as I did not see the old style bolt in parts list.
    Thanks
    Ray

    1. The old style bolt is no longer made, however the new style bolt can be modified by removing the extra castings.

  34. I have an old original 880 receiver sides and pump handle metal. I ordered seal rebuild kit , watched your videosite on disassembly and reassembly. The rifle doesn’t pump up as much pressure as it should and still not holding air for much time. Could the pump body be bad ? Need some help with this one please

  35. Just ordered the 880 Pump Piston Assembly through Amazon for my mid 70’s Daisy 880
Looking forward to getting it back up and running.

Thanks for this web site and videos!

  36. Just received and installed the pump head assembly and my old mid 70’s 880 is back up and running – THANKS!

      1. Just a follow up… I posted this below before logging in…. Basically what oil do you use? I’ve been using Pellgunoil…

  37. I have a Sears Ted Williams 799 model made by daisy. I ordered the Daisy Powerline 7880 880 35 880s Rebuild Kit Reseal Seal Gun BB Air Rifle Parts Set. but the seal kit does not work on my model. even the old style does not seem to match. any suggestions ?

    1. From my understanding the 799 should be the same as the old style 880 internally. If you ordered the parts for the old style 880 and they were different the best I could say is send me a pic and I will try to help identify the part you seek.

  38. Thank you for your assemble/reassembly video for the Daisy 880 Air Rifle. They were very helpful and I agree with your comment that reassembling the trigger assembly is the most difficult reassembly operation.

I ordered and successfully installed Item # 111498010721 Exhaust Valve Assembly and Item # 151539675066 Rebuild Kit with Seals. However, my rifle still does not hold air. I also ordered Item # 151539675066, the Pump Piston Buffer O Ring, (I’ll call it a rubber cylinder), but it does not fit on the Pump Piston Assembly because it is too long. My original Buffer is 0.304 inches long but he new one is 0.443 inches long. If I place the Buffer on the Pump Piston Assembly rod I can not insert the retaining pin through the slot in the Pump Piston Assembly. My question is does the Buffer O Ring ,the rubber cylinder, have to be compressed once it is placed between the two end caps? If so, what technique should be used to compress the Buffer O Ring about 0.140 inches in order to insert the retaining pin in the Pump Piston Assembly slot? If compression is required in order to expand the diameter of the Buffer O Ring, this seems like a very difficult operation, maybe requiring special tooling. If compression is required, I would have just ordered a whole new Pump Piston Assembly.
Even though unusual, can I ask a special favor of you and request that you call me at (803) 226-xxxx to discuss. I promise to keep our conversation brief. Thank you!!
    Ted Tronosky (803) 226-xxxx

  39. Does the Buffer O Ring need to be compressed so that it expands to seal inside the Pump Tube or can I just cut the Buffer O Ring so that it fits in the Pump Piston Assembly so that I can insert the retaining pin?

    1. The buffer’s job isn’t to seal. It does no sealing whatsoever, it’s job is to cushion the pump head, and it needs to be pressed in place. The sealing is done by the o-ring on the pump head.

  40. Dear jlmissouri,
It’s been 3 days since I posted my initial questions to you – yet you have not provided any response. I find it absolutely despicable that you have people buy your parts that do not work and you do not have the decency to answer their questions to you. If you were away or busy, I would have least expected you to provide a short reply saying that you would get back at a later date. So sad the way that you do business at daisy880.net. How do you sleep at night???

    1. I commend jlmissouri for working with me to resolve and honor my requests. I highly recommend others to do business with jlmissouri and daisy880.net. They will be highly satisfied customers!

    2. I sleep just fine, I sell no parts on this site. You need to contact me through the site you purchased the parts from. I answer all questions there, this site is to share more information about the Daisy 880, and the parts sales are links to Ebay and Amazon. If you ask your questions on Ebay or Amazon you would get a quick response and I would know what part you purchased, when, etc..

  41. I have a 822 old style that I just replaced the chamber seal and o-rings on, It will now hold pressure but will not build up more than 3 pumps.Any more than 3 pumps and the pump handle will spring back to where it started resistance on the 4th pump like the pressure never went into the chamber, any ideas, thanks

    Dale

    1. My guess would be the same as yours. The problem sounds like it is the chamber seal not getting the last pump. It may be because the pump piston is not getting enough pressure to override the existing pressure in the chamber, you might check that the oring and pump tube are good, at-least that is where I would start.

  42. I have a Daisy Model 799 Ted Williams. Does my air rifle have the same guts as the original 880? The rifle has never been rebuilt and will not hold air. What is the complete part list of items that I should order and replace?

    Thanks, Robby

    1. I believe it is the same as the old style 880. The problem with the vast majority of the old style 880s I have rebuilt is the chamber seal. You can try to get the old seal to work by heating it slightly and stretching it back out. If you have no luck I offer a rebuild kit for the old style 880 as well as the individual parts.

  43. I bought parts from your website and replaced the chamber seal and all the O rings on old 880. When I pump slowly I cannot build pressure, and air seems to be escaping from receiver. If I pump quickly something seems to “grab” and I can build pressure to shoot. Any idea what’s going on? Is exhaust valve leaking? Should O ring on exhaust valve be oiled with Pellgun oil or 30 weight oil? Thanks.

    1. Without looking at the gun I have to make a guess, and yes the exhaust valve would be my guess. You can usually here the exhaust valve leaking through the barrel. It may just need a cleaning. I use pellgun oil on all o-rings. The original daisy manuals recommended using 30w engine oil. Either will work, I just prefer the pellgun oil.

  44. I have a 20th anniversary edition, I need to order the rebuild kit for, please confirm that is the new style.
    Thank you.

    1. I advise checking, it is pretty easy to do so. Old style has a brass pump tube, new style has an aluminum pump tube.

  45. Do you mind if I quote a couple of your articles as
long as I provide credit and sources back to your webpage?
My blog site is in the very same niche as yours and my users would definitely benefit from some of
the information you present here. Please let me
know if this alright with you. Many thanks!

  46. I got my first BB gun Christmas 1972. It was a Daisy 880. I think that was the first year they came out. I have it mostly disassembled in a bag. I think I took it apart when I was a kid because it was leaking air. I’m finally going to rebuild it. I’ll need to replace the defective parts along with any that got lost. Hope I can get replacement parts for that model.

    1. Most of the parts for the old style 880 are available. There are a few that are no longer made and are only available used. Good luck with your 880.

  47. Hi Joe,

Your videos are truly very informational and the parts catalog is too great. I recently got a daisy 880 and it is an amazing plinking pal. I have one question regarding a partial disassembly. Would it be possible to only remove the stock for purpose of shipping the gun? I’m planning on taking the gun back to my country once my work days are over. For this, I see that the gun with the stock attached is like 10 inches over the length of my biggest luggage. If I’m able to remove the stock and keep it separate, I think I can easily fit the rifle as 2 pieces into a custom wooden box to fit within my luggage. Your inputs would be helpful.

    Regards,
    Arun

    1. There are two styles of stock on the 880, the old style and new style. I will assume as you purchased it recently you have the new style. The new style stock is held on by six screws, while I would probably remove the side covers you might be able to slide the stock out after removing the six screws and loosening the other screws on the side covers.

  48. Hi Daisy880.net. Cool website. Thanks for sharing this information with us. I have a couple questions about the 880 that you might be able to answer. First. If I were to buy a new 880, would I be able to put an old metal receiver and pump arm on it so that it had the new guts but the older, more durable case and pump arm? Second. Have you ever heard of anyone putting a Lothar Walther barrel from a Daisy 753/853 on their 880? If that were an easy barrel swap, the 880 could become a SICK multi-pump, precision rifle!

    1. It is possible to put the old style metal side covers on the newer model 880, the new style stock however either needs to be changed or modified as it is attached with six screws vs the single screw on the old style 880. I have swapped new style internals into old style rifles many times. It is pretty close to a straight swap once you get used to the differences. I couldn’t answer your question on the barrel as I have no experience with it.

  49. Heya i am for the primary time here. I came across this
board and I find It truly useful & it helped me out a lot.
I’m hoping to give one thing again and aid others such as you helped me.

  50. I am looking for a rebuild kit for my 880 old style,I was wondering if you got them?I bought one from you on Amazon to come an find out it was for a new style.the shaft is a .25 inch on old style and 3/8th on new style.thanks.

  51. I purchased one of your 88- pump head assemblies and it works great. I have been using PellgunOil from Crosman, heard that Daisy recommends 30 w non-detergent oil. What do you use?

  52. Just purchased the “Daisy Powerline 880/881/7880/922/817/822 Pump Piston Assembly Complete Gun Bb Air Rifle New” item listed on Amazon with the intention of fitting it to my Powerline 880 (mid 80’s vintage- no diamond) — the OLD part measures 5 1/4″ complete in length while the purchased part assembly is 5 3/8″ in length or so…visibly longer. IS this going to work?

    1. All Daisy 880s have the same length of pump pistons. The difference in size is likely due to the buffer in the old piston compressing over time. The pump piston in the current production 880 can be dropped into the first generation 880 with no problems. There are minor differences like the shape of the head casting is changed, but they are 100% interchangeable.

  53. I received the bolt handle assembly (new style) that I ordered today but it is missing the magnetic pin on the tip. My old pin broke and is the whole reason I ordered the new assembly. Is the magnet a different part or did I get a defective part? Your help is greatly appreciated.

    1. If it is for the current 880 it should have a magnetic tip, just contact me through the channel you purchased the part from and I will get a replacement part your way.

  54. I bought a Crosman 2000 valve assembly from you through Amazon last week and shipped to Alaska!
The new assembly is longer than the original and the pump mechanism will not close now. Is there a different size in your inventory?

    1. I am assuming you meant 2100, as I am not familiar with a 2000 and don’t sell parts for them. I sell valves for the model B 2100, I would be interested in knowing more about your 2100 and how much longer your valve is. You are welcome to return the valve for the 2100 for a full refund. Please contact me through Amazon and I will see if I can help with your gun.

  55. I have an old style 880 which I have somehow removed the safety catch from the trigger guard for cleaning. I have been trying to reinstall it but am having trouble. Is there some correct way to replace this (with the spring & ballbearing) or should I look for a used guard? I realize you have the part available.

    1. I do have a video on reassembly for the old style 880 on youtube you might fin helpful. The safety goes in with the side cover removed, and slide in from what would be the inside of the side cover. The safety button has a hole, the spring goes in first and the ball bearing goes on top, this is the trick part. You must compress the ball into the safety button to get the button into the side cover. The safety button goes in one way, the red end going in first with the hole with the spring and ball bearing to the bottom.

  56. Purchased item 112633550081 piston buffer. This is significantly taller and narrower than what is on my old style 880. Did I get the wrong part or does it need to compress that much?

    1. The buffer is compressed into the pump piston assembly. It’s job is to cushion the pump head, not to seal it. Oil deteriorates the material on the old buffers causing them to swell and eventually disintegrate. The new buffer will look smaller than the old one, but it is the same as the original one was when new, just not compressed.

      1. Thanks for the reply. Is this where I have to boil it enough to compress it into the assembly because it is twice as thick as the old one and will not allow me to insert the pin to hold the pump piston assembly together?

        1. I have a 1981 880 so here’s my question and dilemma at the end of the barrel at the exhaust valve there is a small oblong gasket that the barrel rest on it has shrunk and that makes the barrel loose and probably leeks like a sieve when you fire the bb do you have this item if not any ideas like e-6000

          1. Unfortunately this gasket is no longer made, and it is a common problem on the old style 880 with the screwed on barrel. I have found a plastic washer at the local hardware store that I trim to replace this seal. Unfortunately that is the best fix I have found. Hopefully in the future I can find a replacement that doesn’t have to be modified so much, but that is the route I currently go.

        2. I use a jig in a large vise, I have not tried to soften the buffer by heating but that may work. As you have found the roll pin cannot be inserted without the buffer being compressed, and compressing it takes some doing.

  57. Good day!
I have an old style 880 (1985 purchase/No diamond on fore grip-mostly metal). The pump seal has deteriorated and I am looking to repair. Why does the “whole pump piston assembly” list as $13.99, while just the five gaskets/o-rings list for $30.99? Any recommendations?

    1. The pump assembly isn’t the only working part in the gun. The rebuild kit includes the chamber seal, this seal holds the pumped up pressure. The piston is what is used to pump that pressure into the chamber. The chamber seal itself is expensive, only one source for it that I can find.

    1. I have old style 880 rebuild kits available as well as a lot of the other parts needed. Everything isn’t available but luckily the seals are.

  58. Hi Jl,
Mutual 880 fans at GTA steered me here. Thanks for the remote help thus far, they linked to the old servise manual and your videos. It helps a lot.

I am looking for a new ‘old” valve seal and the link to yours on ebay has expired. Do you have any valve assemblies or seals left?

    Thanks

    1. Yes, I have them listed on Ebay and Amazon. I will check on my links here and make sure they are working.

  59. I just purchased your Old Style 880 seal kit and installed it per your video (great info, by the way). When I pressure tested the gun with six pumps (soft pine board test), it failed (did not penetrate to a depth of 1/16th “). Since all the seals are new, do you have any ideas about why the pressure is so low (more like 400, versus the 550 that should be generated with a new seal set. Thanks.

    1. Sounds like you have a leak somewhere, common spot on the old style 880 is the bottom of the pump tube. I would try some soapy water if you cannot hear the leak. I have ran into old style pump tubes that have the bottom holes rounded where the pin holds them in place, if that is the case it may not be possible to get it to seal. Another place to check would be the exhuast valve, if it is not opening properly you will get poor performance.

      1. Thanks. I got the leak problem fixed. Pressure is up to specs. Now, however, the front sight is kicked loose of the barrel shroud about 1/16″ with each shot. On about the third shot, the front sight and barrel fall off. I tried clamping and mashing the sides of the barrel shroud tighter onto the front sight. Didn’t work. Inner barrel and front sight are loose. Is there a way I could phone you for advice? My number is 336-722-2564. Thanks.

        1. Sounds like you have an old style 880 that has the screw on barrel. If you cannot get the barrel to stay on you may try a little glue or a very thin piece of rubber for the clamp, I have ran into the clamp bending a little to where it cannot clamp the barrel well.

  60. I have bought and replaced the pump piston assembly, chamber seal, chamber seal support disc, and the screw in exhaust valve. Before I replaced all of that, my old style 22 caliber 880 would barely send a pellet out of the barrel. Now, it won’t even hold air. Just a little bit confused and scratching my head. Any suggestions?

  61. Hi JL. I picked up an old style 880 that is in pretty good shape except for the pump assembly. The plastic ring that sits between the roll pin and the foam oil pad has broken and the buffer is all but disintegrated. I know you can get a complete pump assembly but was wondering if you sell the plastic ring. Also, did the old style 880 have a rifled barrel or just the old style 881? Thanks for your time.

    1. Yes I sell the plastic washer for the foam wiper. Yes the old style 880 did come with a rifled barrel and it also came with a smooth bore barrel. All the new style 880s have rifled barrels.

  62. Hi JL. I resently aquired an old style Daisy 880 in excellent condition. I noticed the plastic ring that rests between the roll pin and the foam wiper is missing. Maybe it broke. Is this part still available or would i need to purchase a complete pump assembly? Also, did the old style 880 have a rifled barrel or was it just the 881? Thanks for the website and the supply of older parts.

    1. Old style 880s did not have the plastic washer on the back of the foam wiper, that was added later, around 2006. I do have the plastic washers listed, and I think it is a design improvement as it keeps the wiper in place, you can add this part to your piston assembly, you do not need to buy the complete assembly, however you will need a vice or something to compress the buffer to get the pin back into the piston head when putting it back together. You can also just replace the piston assembly as well.

  63. I picked up a Power Line Model 822 .22 Cal Pellet rifle this past weekend. When I primed the chamber and pulled the trigger, I heard just a click. The chamber was not charging. I field dressed the rifle in the shop and found the buffer and O rings dried out. I must assume the charging chamber is also in bad shape. Looking on the internet I seam to have am older model. Are there parts available for the 822? And where can I purchase them?

    1. The 822 is based of the 880, and will take most of the same parts with of course the .22 caliber barrel being an exception. I like the wood stock on the 822 and it is a fine pellet gun. Most of the 822s are old style internals, but some might be the new style. You will have to determine which style you have before ordering parts. The easiest way I have determined to find out which style is to look at the pump tube, the old style has a brass pump tube, the new style has an aluminum pump tube. The pump piston assembly is the same for either style, but the chamber seals and associated parts are different. The old style also uses the screw in exhaust valve and the new style uses a twist in exhaust valve.

  64. I have an old style 881 that I just ordered and installed the pump assembly from you, works great! Unfortunately I found the spacer at the top of the pump handle or knuckle is falling to pieces. I found it on your site but couldn’t locate a part number. Any info would be appreciated! I’ve been looking a long time for a place to find parts for these guns. I’m almost 50 and had 2 or 3 of them. Nothing compared at that time. Absolutely nothing but good memories! I appreciate your passion!

    1. I believe I have the part you are looking for, I have it listed as the daisy 880 old pump arm elbow on Ebay.

  65. I have an old style 880 and just received my rebuild kit. The chamber seal will not stay affixed to the chamber seal support disk. The old one took quite a bit of work to remove. It looks like the new chamber seal is too large to cling to the top of the disk. Should I attempt to glue it on?

    1. The seal doesn’t need to be glued as the spring should keep everything in place, however if you wanted to glue it I don’t see that it would harm anything.

  66. I have been given a mint condition Daisy Powerline 881 and Daisy Powerline scope without box. It will pump but has no power. I need to know what parts to order to restore correct function. Barrel is marked:
    Lot No. D209497, .177 and 4.5mm
    Daisy Rogers, AR USA
It has a dull silver color receiver.
    Thank you for your help.

    1. Most 881s are the same as the old style Daisy internals. Before ordering parts you will need to determine which style your rifle is. The internal parts of the 881 are the same as an 880.

  67. We have a 20th anniversary 880 powerline. It won’t hold air. I see in an earlier comment that you said the new ones have an aluminum chamber. Mine has an aluminum chamber but daisy says with the metal receiver it’s an old-style and they don’t make parts for it anymore. I can see the chamber seal has dry-rotted. Do you know which seals I need?

    1. It is likely the new style, but it should be easy to distinguish when you have it apart. The 20th anniversary is a mix of both styles, so it is a different animal.

  68. Hello, I recently rebuilt my old style 880 after ordering a few replacement parts. I can hear air leaking when the pump lever is fully extended. Do you think such a leak is likely due to issues with the chamber seal?

  69. Do you have for sale the Daisy 880 old-style plastic O-ring washer pump tube seal and the Daisy 880 pump tube gasket spring? Please advise me

  70. I tried to post in the forum to ask a question about repairing my 880 after registering. It told me I am not allowed to post. Is there some way I can contact you to ask if it is worth repairing it?

    1. If it is worth repairing is a personal decision, I can advise on the parts that may be needed. Many guns hold sentimental value and that is why they are repaired.

        1. There are too many variables to answer this question. It could be something is damaged on your gun, it could be one of the seals mating surface is rough.

  71. I have model 881 And just received your new piston. And it still will not pump up. What would you suggest l try next. I would buy from you on amazon again. But not sure what I need. Any suggestions Tom

  72. I have recently acquired an 880 20th Anniversary Limited Edition (used obviously). Ive oiled it, shot it a few times, and the pump piston assembly went kaput. I have no experience with pneumatic pump guns but from what I can tell is that the foam oil wiper fell apart/disintegrated. So ive been looking for parts to replace it but wasn’t sure how to tell if its the old style or new style piston assembly

  73. I just received some parts I ordered through Amazon, for a Crosman 766, and they were shipped from your facility. You sent a parts list, which is for the 766 Phase III, starting with Ser# 681213209. My ser# is 478026569. I need to order the top barrel, bracket, sights and screws. Would these parts fit on this older model? I need to order 766F100, 766B102, 766B110, 766-126, 766C005, 766C004, 766A047, 766A106, 766-107 and 66-026. Thanks-

    1. I do not have a Crosman parts number cross reference and cannot answer this question. Crosman part numbers change frequently, often the new parts have little changes and can still be used in place of the earlier parts but this isn’t always the case.

  74. I have a Daisy model 922 that will not pump up. I did a rebuild on the gun several years ago and it worked fine until it was over pumped. Is there anything I can do to get this gun shooting again? What parts do you think I need, are there any parts still available for this gun. I realize this is not a Daisy 880 but since the guns are quite similar I’m hoping you may be able to help.
    Thanks for your help.
    Don

    1. Yes, the 922 is the same internally as the 880. Most 922s are the same as the old style 880 internals, but some are the new style internals. It sounds like your chamber seal is failing. If it is the old style chamber seal you may try stretching it out to get a seal.

  75. I am reassembling a Daisy 880 and at the point of putting in the safety pin. The ball bearing is in the hole and will not come out. What is the correct sequence of placing it in correctly and stay there?

    1. The spring needs to go in the hole first, the spring is what holds the ball bearing in position. If you put the bearing in the hole without the spring it may be hard to get it back out.

  76. hi i am being frustrated with my 880 and the bolt i just purchased
it has a cone on the end around the magnet and will not go into battery or even go far enough forward enough to release the safety
the one in my gun has a round shaft
it is marked as a 20 year limited edition anniversary model , it has metal sides and the diamonds are melted on it has none of the barrel clamps of the old model and all of the pictures eather show the tapered cone or too fuzzy to discriminate wot have i done to myself

    1. Your model takes the old style bolt. If you look at the listing I have pictures that show the difference between the bolts. The new style bolt can be made to work by removing some of the extra webbing that was added. You can look at the pictures in the listing to see what I am talking about. I use a dremel.

  77. Hi,
Have the old 880 I bought in 72. Never been rebuilt. Just replaced the pump assembly, but hear air coming out of the bolt when pumping. What do you think?? New complete seal kit I’m thinking. The start of my problem was using the wrong oil before shooting the gun again.
    Thanks, Mark

    1. If you hear it leaking through the barrel area it is likely your exhaust seal. I have ran into the old style 880s with corroded seal surfaces, a good cleaning of the area may get you going with no parts needed, if not I have the old style screw in exhaust valves listed.

  78. My grandson lost the front site from our ranch 880 over Christmas and was distraught as a result. Thankfully you were able to save the day. Thanks for your prompt delivery of the part.

  79. Just rebuilt my early 70’s 880 with new seals. The gun works like it should, but seems a little weak compared to my new style 880. One thing that did happen is a little plastic gasket under the barrel hole broke in two. I did reinstall the gasket, but a piece did fall out when pumping up. Wonder if I am loosing air there when I fire. Do you have any of these plastic barrel gaskets, if not, where can I get one??

    1. Yes you will loose some power this way and unfortunately that seal is unavailable. I have used a plastic washer from the hardware store and cut it into shape to replace this seal.

  80. Luke, This is Tony from ebay (tojim-4422). I just reached out to you about an old-style Multi-piece Diamond Forearm 880, with a broken bolt assembly. I am going to have to part ways with it. Thank you for the offer to buy it from me. Tell me what you think it is worth, and send me your shipping address, and I can send it your way. Paypal is easiest for me for payment, if that works for you. Thank you.

    1. Best to contact me through Ebay, Luke is my brother and is handling shipping and sales currently.

  81. Hi. I have new 880 and what looks to be a mid 80’s 881. All the metal parts fit on my 880, but the bolt does not fit correctly and allows bbs into the mechanism. I saw you mention that it is possible to modify new bolts to work in old guns and was wondering how I could possibly fix this problem?

    1. I use a Dremel and remove the excess castings added to the later production bolts so they will work on most older rifles. If you look at my listings for the new bolt you will see pictures showing the difference on the listing.

    2. I use a Dremel to remove the excess casting added to the later production bolts so that they will work in most older rifles. If you look at the pictures in my listing you will see the two styles side by side and you can see what must be removed.

  82. I guess the thing causing my problem would actually be the trigger assembly. Is it possible to fix the problem?

    1. Likely, about anything can be fixed, the main question is what generation and parts availability.

  83. Hallo da es über eBay mit der Bestellung nach Deutschland nicht klappt könnte ich auch direkt bei dir bestellen ? Mit PaPal und Käuferschutz ? Gruß dat248

    1. I will ship to Germany through Ebay, shipping just has to be added manually for you to complete the order.

  84. I purchased the old model style rebuild kit and installed it, bringing my 1979 .177 pellet rifle back to its original operating glory! Many thanks for making these parts available. My quest for a replacement 5 pellet clip has so far been unsuccessful. Any chance the newer model style clips will work on the old style rifle? Or have you found a source for the old style clips?
    Thanks!

    1. Every Once in Awhile I get some clips for the 880 variants, but I know of none available currently. Thanks
