    I’m sure rebuilds must always get interesting. Well, I managed to get the side covers off…tight fit. There are metal shavings from the barrel tube scattered throughout the pump assembly. The lever pump did not remove easily from the barrel and when it did, parts flew all over. The oil ring has deteriorated to the point it stuck to the barrel wall, thus prohibiting easy removal of the pump lever assembly.

    I’m seeing a screw-in style exhaust valve. It appears the guts are new style while the exterior represents the old style…no diamond on the wood forearms. I know I need to replace O rings and chamber seals but should I also replace the exhaust valve?

    The stock and forearms are wood? Does it still have a reservoir for bbs? I have seen the problems you describe, the buffer is affected by some oils and can disintegrate and make a mess. I have never seen a new style aluminum pump tube with a screw in exhaust valve, but I am sure there are some different things out there. I would love to see pics and will do my est to help
