Flood control or irrigation requires removing water from any source, either temporarily or permanently. In addition to being used as drinking water, the extracted water can also be treated in a way that makes it safe for consumption. When removing water from your flooded home, be cautious not to overdo it. The walls and floors are likely bulging if the water is removed too fast and the ground is still saturated. Every day, for water removal, drain only one-third of the volume. If there is any standing water, remove it with pumps or pails, then mop it up with a wet/dry shop vacuum.
