    Hello,
I stupidly left my newish (Xmas) Daisy 880 fully charged in my shop in the summer heat. When I grabbed it last week it made a small “puff” sound like a lame pump discharge. It will not pump up anymore. Can I assume it needs a new baffle/piston kit? I’m a dedicated moron on gunsmithing – even baby guns. If you can tell me what I need I’ll get it and try my best to rebuild her. Give me the product ID’s if possible.

I can’t help, but believe I have a similar problem with an old model. Mine is a 20th anniversary model 880, so I’d guess it was acquired in about 1995. I left it pumped up, too, and it was hot. Now the pump handle not only does not pump up pressure, but whatever valve is supposed to let air from pump into chamber seemingly failed, so now the pump handle is sucked by negative pressure back to the closed position. I’m debating whether to fix or not, because a new like gun is about $50, and parts needed might approach that. It was very accurate, though, so hate to just chuck it, and I probably only fired 50-75 rounds through it max (I’m of retirement age, bought it when I lived in a city).

The likely problem on both of your guns is the chamber seal, it is what holds the pumped up pressure. The pump piston seals with a single oring on the piston head, as long as it is good and there is no damage I wouldn’t replace it. I would start with the chamber seal and a good cleaning. The vast majority of guns that I have rebuilt had problems with the chamber seal especially the old style 880.
