I recently got a replacement stock for a “new style” 880, but when I go to install it, there is a threaded bushing (looks like pressed in) where the old (broken) one did not have one, so it interferes with the post one one side which is where the screw threaded into plastic. Question: What is preferred way to install this stock? (cut away cast in boss which interferes and get machine screws, OR something else??) TIA for help and insight.

Sounds like your trying to install this stock on a model that only had one screw securing the stock, or old style stock. You cannot do so without modifications. The old style stocks are only available used.

Are the modifications feasible or should I just part out this one? I love my old 880, I don’t mind buying parts and tinkering if it not too expensive but I also have a 1977XS and I prefer to be practical rather than romantic. If modifications would eliminate the wobble and not cost more than a new one, I’m in. If a new one is cheaper, I have parts for sale.

    Thanks
