John You can get by without part #62, and it may not have even been used on all the old style rifles, but you definitely have to have an O-Ring at the bottom of the pump tube or your never going to build any pressure.
jlmissouriKeymasterSounds like your trying to install this stock on a model that only had one screw securing the stock, or old style stock. You cannot do so without modifications. The old style stocks are only available used.
jlmissouriKeymasterSomething seems to be binding, I would check the discs that go on the end of the pump piston arm, they are the likely culprit.
jlmissouriKeymasterSorry this reply is likely too late to help, I am not sure what the problem would be without looking at the gun in person, I hope you were able to find a solution. Yes I combine shipping, just add the items to your cart on Ebay and the process is automatic.
June 1, 2021 at 7:15 pm in reply to: Old style 881 conversion to new style 880 but with metal parts #1146jlmissouriKeymasterYes it is possible and I have done similar several times. Since you have a wood stock I would assume wood forearms as well. That makes the job easier as you can use the new style frame rail, which doesn’t have the tabs to hold the plastic forearms on.
jlmissouriKeymasterBill when installed the buffer is compressed, and will look as you describe as it will slightly bulge.
jlmissouriKeymasterThe O-Ring is the same on the bottom of the pump tube and the pump head, although with older rifles a slightly larger seal could definitely be used.
jlmissouriKeymasterEasiest way is to find out what material your pump tube is made out of. The new style pump tubes are aluminum and the old style pump tubes are brass.
jlmissouriKeymasterThe new style bolt can be modified to work on most old style 880s except the earliest models.
jlmissouriKeymasterYes the 977 is a variant of the 880, and should take the same internal parts as the old style 880.
jlmissouriKeymasterYes the safety buttons on the removable trigger guards are slightly larger, the spring and ball bearing however should be the same. That style button is not available.
jlmissouriKeymasterI agree, the 822 came close but would like to see that idea carried into a .177 caliber air rifle with the bb hopper like the 880. The 822 is a .22 caliber version of the 880 with metal side covers and wood furniture, but is just a single shot pellet rifle.
jlmissouriKeymasterI agree with Loe, for some reason it seems your exhaust valve is not opening, and the only way to find out why is to dig into the gun.
jlmissouriKeymasterSounds like you have done some intensive modifications. I am no expert in that field I generally just restore, but given the chance I would like to see the difference with an 880 modified as you have done.
jlmissouriKeymasterI know that in Canada airguns are limited on power, but I don’t know what is done to achieve that.
